The state government
announced that 35 colleges will be closed for functioning without approval. The
move came shortly after the Centre decided to derecognize 44 deemed
universities, including six in Karnataka.
One would have expected a tense
atmosphere at institutes whose names came within the ‘derecognized’ bracket.
Fortunately, there was no panic or questions from parents or students on the
issue.
While it was business as usual on
Saturday, 70 students from IFIM Business School turned up at Vidhana Soudha to
submit a petition against the decision to close the institute, which they say
is approved by AICTE.Nitte Institute of Catering Studies,
which is one of the derecognized colleges, is no longer functioning. “We want
to have a separate campus now and have bought land in Mangalore,” a Nitte
official said. Also, MATS School of Business and IT closed down three years ago. The Jain
Group of Institutions has already started MATS Institute of Management and
Entreprenuership and has been running it for the past three years, which is
approved by AICTE. E R Prabhakara, chief executive,
Gokula Education Foundation, said: “We will explain the matter to the
government. Classes are being held as usual and there is no
panic or anxiety among students.” Manish Jain, CEO, Indian Business Academy,
said students are already aware about the case against AICTE. “When we won the
case, we displayed the information on the notice board,” he added.
E R Prabhakara, chief executive,
Gokula Education Foundation, the school started before the Centre set up such
regulations. “Then it asked us to submit all records, which we did. An
inspection team visited our institute and a report was submitted to the Centre.
Even then we have been getting notices to which we have been replying
regularly. Now we are looking into the matter,”.

Hmmm….. so planning for MBA/PGDM (2 year
management programme)
when it
comes to Institute selection, "MBA Aspirants (most dedicated and serious
candidates, who dropped last year because either available institutes were not
suitable for them or they were not suitable for remaining institutes), starts
hunting institutes without knowing their preference or priorities.
Mr. A
spend 12 long years in formal education and then 3 or 4 years in "college
masti" but masti and time pass is almost over now as his/her parents
wants them to pursue management career.
MBA
karna hai
"kuch
pata nahi" even some of he/his friends dont know "kyu karna
hai"
Is it a Degree,
Status Symbol, High salaries, Life in Management Colleges, Because you
just want to stay out of HOME, Friends ne kiya to mujhe bhi karna
hai....
There must
be something in mind which keeps prompting you about Mission MBA or PGDM or
PGP (all are 2 year full time Management Programme)
Pursuing
MBA/PGDM/PGP (2 year full time management programme) is not just parking your
self for 2 years; it is investing 2 years for next 30-40 years, so there must
be a serious and proper mind set for "MBA Kyu Karna hai".
Once
"MBA Kyu" Concept is clear, your work is half done.....
Half
Done........................!
I am not kidding;
Yes you found this right "HALF DONE"
Because
now you just need to find which institutes are available which are suitable for
your need (MBA Kyu).
There are
3 types of courses available in India. One is MBA (UGC Approved) normally
through state level or deemed university, second is PGDM an autonomous
programme which is AICTE Approved; third one is PGP fully autonomous course
along with MBA UGC & DEC Approved (Distance Education Council)
MBA/PG
Aspirants must understand that weather Placements/Industrial exposure/leanings
are important or just a "degree", approvals are more important
or getting good exposure, Institutes giving full page advertisement in dailies
are good or Institutes are old but do not advertise are better and more.....
Best way
to get best available option is to know what your preferences are, analyze,
find 4-5 institutes as per your preference, visit, apply and finally opt one, but
don’t drop an year because no one knows what will happen next year, few more
institutes will come next year and you may not be interested in being an
article of experiment in first batch, competition will also increase, you may
or may not find better option but one thing is sure that you lost one year,
which is not going to come back (even better options (not in case of top 15
Institutes) can not compensate with frustration you will face in 365 days and
salary of one year in case of admission in above average institute)
So why to
Drop if you are average or just above average student, this may sound odd you
now you must realize that what you are good at and what you are bad at

The first phase of CAT 2009 was from November 28th to December 8th, 2009. The second phase of CAT 2009 will be on January 30th and 31st, 2010.
Equity and fairness requires that candidates who faced disruptions during thetest be given an opportunity to complete the test while not requiring those who completed the test successfully to take the test again.
The following candidates would be scheduled for a test in the second phase of CAT 2009:
- those who could not take the test due to planned or unplanned closure of their test lab and were not rescheduled later in the first phase. (This does not include voluntary no-shows.)
- those who were rescheduled but could not appear for the test because of notice period of less than 48 hours.
- those who were rescheduled but could not appear for the test as they were rescheduled in a city different from their original choice.
- those who pressed the End/Quit button within the first 120 minutes during the first three days of the testing window and have not been rescheduled yet. (If a candidate in this category chooses not to take the rescheduled test, then his/her score from the first phase of testing will be retained.)
- those who completed the test in more than 140 minutes of clock-time* due to computer disruptions. (If a candidate in this category does not appear for the rescheduled test, then his/her score from the first phase of testing will be considered null and void.)
- those who completed the test in 136 minutes to 140 minutes of clock-time* due to computer disruptions would have an option to take the rescheduled test. (If a candidate in this category does not appear for the rescheduled test, then his/her score from the first phase of testing will be retained.)
- those who experienced difficulties due to various kinds of disruptions such as frozen computer screen, blank screen, and data/graphic elements not displaying properly; identified through site reports recorded at the test labs and have not been rescheduled yet.
(*Clock-time refers to actual elapsed time from the start of the test tothe end of the test for a candidate. This is different from the timeindicated by the count-down timer which was displayed on the computerscreen.)
The above criteria have been arrived at based onthe analysis of calls and emails received from the candidates; sitereports filed by the site managers; computer logs; and informationgathered from websites and blogs. The rescheduling (based on the abovecriteria) and the psychometric equivalences that will be establishedacross the test address all issues of equity and fairness raised invarious forums (including those pertaining to candidates gettingadditional clock-time).
The candidates identified for there-test in phase two would receive communication from Prometric byJanuary 10, 2010. The results of CAT 2009 are likely to be declared bythe third week of February 2010.

prepare well for (Group Discussion & personal Interview) GD-PI. Now
admissions are based on written exam + GD-PI + Work Experience + Previous
Academics + Extra co curricular activities (if any)
Let’s have a look at GD
as a part of Admission Process
Group Discussion (GD)
is a nothing more than a discussion done in group. So what's so special about Group
Discussion? We do discussion in groups all the time, sitting in our college
canteen discussing about cool guys / hot girls, discussing about friends, games,
music, movies, studies, etc. again the question is same why is this discussion
so different?
Why so Different..! Group Discussion VS Discussion in your Group
·
You can’t choose the topic
·
You don’t have an option to stay away
·
You might not know anything (A, B, C…) about
the topic
·
You may not interact with known faces
·
Aim of this discussion is not just to
discuss, or Pass Time but to score or crack Admission Process
·
Mainly Group Discussion is used as one of
the admission criteria.
You planned for an entrance exam (CAT/MAT/SNAP/NMAT/IBSAT/FMS/IIFT/XAT
or else), Read hell lot of stuff for the same, Appeared for Entrance exam and
Cracked the exam too …..! Now what?
As per normal Admission process you need to apply for
desired institute, if your scores (entrance exam) are good enough you would be
getting a call for further process Group Discussion and Personal Interview(GD-PI).
Why Group Discussion
is used as further process for Admission?
Group Discussion is a technique to assess the candidate’s:
·
Presence of mind (Creative & Analytical)
·
Communication Skills
·
Knowledge (depth and distribution)
·
Be visible and balanced (not too aggressive
nor too timid)
·
Capability to listen and make people listen
·
Capability to co-ordinate and lead
·
Contribution to the topic and discussion
Your views and queries are invited, I would encourage interaction with you, so that we can
understand each other and help you realize and succeed for your dreams.
